In the realm of Fortnite Battle Royale and Zero Build, securing victory extends beyond mere gunplay and fortification construction skills. Frequently, success hinges on possessing unexpected maneuvers, an intimate knowledge of the map, or exploiting lesser-known secrets and tips within the Fortnite universe. Our mission is to shed light on these concealed strategies. Armed with these clandestine tricks, you can enhance your prowess even as the safe zone contracts. Here are 11 concealed Fortnite secrets and discreet tips to elevate your gameplay.

While Shield Breakers excel at swiftly depleting enemy shields or disabling electronic devices such as turrets and security cameras, they harbor a covert benefit: the acquisition of free gold bars. Tossing each EMP in proximity to a vending (or Mending) machine triggers the contraption to disgorge 150 gold bars.

What’s noteworthy is that there’s no predetermined limit to this method. Armed with a complete arsenal of six EMPs, you can amass an impressive 900 gold bars, constituting nearly a fifth of your maximum carrying capacity. If you possess additional EMPs, the potential for accumulating even more gold remains, provided you opt for this strategy over deploying them against adversaries scattered across the island.

Should fortune favor you with a downed state in duos, trios, or squads, and you happen to be in close proximity to a Mending Machine (specifically, a vending machine dedicated to health items), a strategic move is within reach. By crawling towards the machine, you can replenish your health using the “Get Patched Up” option, which costs 200 gold and nearly restores your HP to its maximum. This proves especially beneficial as you steadily lose health while downed, providing you with the opportunity to prolong the time available for your allies to reach and revive you.

While we’re delving into the realm of Mending Machines, it’s time to dispel the habit of overlooking them! Many players tend to carry health items in their inventory, and while I won’t dismiss the value of such a strategy—indeed, it often proves beneficial—it becomes truly crucial mainly in the final circle or two. In team modes with proficient players, a viable approach is having just one or two individuals in a larger group carry healing items, freeing up valuable inventory slots for others.

By adopting this strategy, when the need to heal arises, you can either rely on borrowed items from teammates or make your way to a Mending Machine. These machines offer a seamless recovery process at no inventory cost whatsoever. As long as the safe zone encompasses named locations or other compact landmarks like gas stations, reaching a Mending Machine and utilizing the aforementioned patch-up option is a feasible and resourceful choice.

Arguably the most straightforward yet pivotal adjustment you can implement in all of Fortnite‘s competitive modes involves activating a crucial feature: visualized audio effects. While we have a dedicated guide to assist you in enabling this feature, here I’ll emphasize its significance. Visualized audio introduces on-screen HUD effects to sound cues, such as gunfire, Reboot Van usage, and most notably, footsteps, making them both audible and visible.

Numerous instances, occurring literally several times each week, highlight situations where I observe footsteps on my screen’s UI before hearing them through my headset. This feature has rescued my virtual life countless times. It can do the same for you, turning this accessibility feature into a game-changer.

Completing this task posed a weekly challenge a few seasons back (as of the current time), so it has gained some recognition today. However, it appears that many individuals are still unaware of it. In the event that you suddenly find yourself engulfed in flames, deploying a bit of Chug Splash can swiftly extinguish the fire.

As of my writing this guide in Chapter 5 Season 1, both Chug Splash and fireflies are quite scarce, implying that this information may not be particularly useful until a subsequent season. Nevertheless, if you happen to come across this in the future and it proves to be a lifesaver, feel free to enjoy the newfound knowledge—and do share your thoughts on how Stranger Things concludes.

Similar to how a Mending Machine can prolong your survival when you’re incapacitated, it’s worth noting that you can enlist the help of NPCs even after you’ve been downed. Once hired, these NPCs can be directed to revive you or your allies using the same menu that allows you to give them various commands like following, staying in place, or moving to a specific location.

While you may already be aware of this functionality, a less commonly known detail that I’d like to highlight (credit to my teammate and sister-in-law Julie, aka Toastyz) is that you can recruit NPCs even while in a downed state. The interaction may appear a bit awkward visually, with you crawling around their feet as they communicate, but if your primary goal is to get back on your feet, the process remains the same in the end.

A considerable number of Fortnite players tend to overlook a stationary car, dismissing it as inconspicuous. This is precisely why concealing oneself in the back seats can be an incredibly effective strategy for navigating or ambushing enemies. When you’re not occupying the driver’s seat, a vehicle’s engine will power down, and if you position yourself in the back seat, blending with the car’s lighting and your chosen skin, you might become virtually invisible.

I’ve employed this tactic on numerous occasions, and while it doesn’t guarantee success every time, it has proven effective often enough to create some of my most cherished Fortnite moments—like the one recounted here. And yes, it genuinely happened; there was no staging involved. I simply found myself remarkably fortunate with the timing of that glider.

Similar to the previous advice regarding Chug Splash, this tip becomes relevant only when Riot Shields are unvaulted. However, when they are available, you have the advantage of holding the shield, always positioned on your left arm, while reviving or rebooting allies. This added cover proves invaluable, especially considering how Fortnite players tend to converge on the sound of a Reboot Van in action, much like moths drawn to a porch light.

In the absence of a shield, a Port-A-Bunker serves as an excellent alternative. You can essentially encase an entire van with it, providing comprehensive protection against long-distance gunfire while you go about rebooting your friends.

You might be familiar with this tip, but I’ll mention it just in case. While items like launch pads, Shockwave Grenades, and Grapple Blades are already fun, their effectiveness can be significantly enhanced when utilized in low-gravity conditions. Whether it’s the classic Hop Flopper fish or more recent options like Flowtberries, both types of low-gravity items work exceptionally well.

The key is to consume the low-gravity item first and then use the mobility item before the effect wears off. You’ll notice a substantial increase in the time you spend airborne. This technique is particularly advantageous when escaping the storm or maintaining a lead, as it allows you to reach safety much more swiftly. Additionally, it creates a spectacular visual when employed before launching off a pad, propelling you to such heights that it feels like a second drop from the Battle Bus.

Slurp barrels typically appear in pairs or larger clusters. When engaged in a build mode, such as in battle royale or Team Rumble, a recommended strategy for all players is to efficiently dismantle them using a single floor piece. Breaking each barrel individually may require three or four hits, yielding 10 points of healing per barrel.

Alternatively, a quicker approach involves swiftly constructing a single floor piece directly above the barrels while in close proximity. This method results in the simultaneous destruction of all barrels, providing an immediate accumulation of the combined healing points. This tactic proves significantly faster, and in more competitive lobbies, such a minor adjustment could potentially be a life-saving maneuver on multiple occasions.

Fortnite consistently introduces an array of formidable firearms across seasons, tempting players to amass an extensive arsenal to tackle diverse in-game scenarios. However, the reality is that most engagements are determined by the effective use of a select few weapons. To optimize your loadout, it is advisable to limit yourself to two primary guns, leaving three inventory slots available for crucial items such as mobility tools, throwable weapons, or healing items.

In nearly all situations, three weapons are sufficient for optimal performance. For a well-rounded loadout, especially for those not specializing in sniping, consider carrying one Assault Rifle (AR), one shotgun, and a full stack of six Shockwave Grenades (if available). Additionally, allocate the remaining slots to peripheral items like Flowtberries or a Grapple Blade. The second gun is pivotal for swift transitions during combat, allowing you to eliminate adversaries without the delay of reloading. While a third or fourth gun may seem enticing, the practical difference in battles against opponents is often negligible. Two well-chosen weapons typically prove ample.
