In the vast tapestry of The Elder Scrolls, where mythical figures and history-makers abound, none have left as indelible a mark on Tamriel as Queen Alessia. Often relegated to a mere footnote by many adventurers, Queen Alessia stands out as the inaugural Empress of Cyrodiil and the visionary behind the creation of the Amulet of Kings. While her accomplishments and existence may appear confined to the pages of history books, it is undeniable that her actions have played a pivotal role in shaping the contemporary landscapes of both Skyrim and The Elder Scrolls universe.
The Empire of Cyrodiil boasts a rich heritage spanning thousands of years, reaching across the vast expanse of Tamriel. Revered as the Slave-Queen and celebrated as the progenitor of the Amulet of Kings, Saint Alessia emerged as the inaugural Dragonborn Emperor. Alessia’s birth occurred in a Tamriel markedly different from the one familiar to players—a realm dominated by Ayleid elves, where human subjugation was rampant across much of the continent.
Who Was Saint Alessia?
Alessia, a Nedic human, entered the world as a slave to the elves in Cyrodiil during a tumultuous era under Ayleid dominion. This period followed the expulsion of elves from Skyrim, as humans forged their own path, venerating a pantheon of gods more aligned with their interests than the elven deities. Drawing inspiration from these achievements, Alessia turned to prayer directed at the divine Kyne, later known as Kynareth. Responding to her pleas, the goddess dispatched her son, the demigod hero Morihaus, along with the Divine Crusader Pelinal Whitestrake, to assist Alessia in toppling the Ayleid oppressors and liberating humans from enslavement.
