Overwatch 2 Temporarily Disables Illari

Overwatch 2

Overwatch 2 has temporarily excluded Illari from Competitive Play due to a bug. Despite making a strong initial impact on Overwatch 2 players, Illari’s journey in the hero shooter has been marred by challenges.

Highlighted as a prominent feature of Overwatch 2 Season 6, Illari garnered acclaim for her design, lore, and skill set. However, debates emerged among players regarding her role, with some considering her damage output more indicative of a DPS rather than a support. In response, Overwatch 2 swiftly implemented nerfs to Illari. Yet, some argued that the adjustments were too severe, leading to the gradual decline of the character’s popularity. Several months post-launch, Illari finds herself among the least chosen supports in Overwatch 2.

In an effort to rejuvenate Illari’s appeal, Blizzard introduced an update to restore some of her firepower. Unfortunately, this move inadvertently gave rise to another issue for the Inti warrior.

Overwatch 2 has temporarily barred Illari from Competitive Play due to a critical bug that allows her to continuously fire without pause. In the recently released mid-season patch for Overwatch 2, a previously undisclosed enhancement to Illari’s abilities came to light. The adjustments targeted the Captive Sun and Solar Rifle, with the latter experiencing an increase in maximum ammunition from 14 to 16. However, this modification inadvertently introduced a new bug, enabling Illari to surpass her ammo limit and fire indefinitely. In response to this game-breaking issue, the developers swiftly took action and opted to disable Illari.

On Twitter, user mL7support shared a video illustrating the bug, showcasing Illari with a negative ammo count but persistently firing. The Overwatch 2 team has acknowledged the problem and assured the community that they are actively working on a fix. However, the timeline for Illari’s return to the roster has not been disclosed.

The mid-season patch for Overwatch 2 has sparked debates, not solely due to the Illari disabling bug. After causing considerable frustration among players, Mauga has undergone substantial nerfs, impacting his health, life steal, ultimate, and more. The Overwatch 2 community is also divided in their opinions on Orisa and Lifeweaver. Orisa has seen significant enhancements to her primary fire, immunity to forced critical hits during Fortify, and the elimination of falloff damage, leading to varying perspectives. Lifeweaver, previously nerfed last year, now experiences increased movement speed for Thorn Volley, while Petal Platform can no longer be penetrated by specific projectiles.

Overwatch 2 frequently introduces updates to maintain player engagement, yet the arrival of new content occasionally brings along bugs that can adversely impact the player experience. In a similar fashion to Illari’s recent issue, Hanzo encountered a significant bug last year that enabled him to inflict substantial damage without the need to charge his arrows. As Overwatch 2 players await Illari’s reactivation, they are left to ponder whether the latest buff will once again thrust the support hero into the spotlight.
