Rumor: Xbox Developer Direct Possibly Happening This Month

0

Microsoft is reportedly gearing up for another Xbox Developer Direct later this month, as indicated by multiple sources. One of these sources has pinpointed mid-January as the likely timeframe for the event. These reports surfaced just days before the one-year anniversary of the original Xbox Developer Direct announcement.

Following its name’s implication, the inaugural Xbox Developer Direct, held on January 25, 2023, offered fans an exclusive peek behind the scenes at several titles in progress across Microsoft’s diverse studios. This event coincided with a dedicated The Elder Scrolls Online event immediately following. The Xbox and Bethesda Developer Direct showcased approximately six games, including notable titles such as Forza Motorsport, Minecraft Legends, and Starfield.

Today on Reddit, user Zantorn claimed that an upcoming Xbox Developer Direct is scheduled for the week starting January 14. The accuracy of this information is uncertain, but it’s worth noting that the same individual accurately predicted the dates of the June 21 and September 14 Nintendo Directs, aligning with the weeks of June 18 and September 10, respectively. In their 2023 leaks, they consistently used Sundays as the beginning of the week, indicating that their current assertion points to the next Xbox Developer Direct occurring within the week concluding on January 20.

In light of this recently surfaced rumor, Insider Gaming has disclosed that it has information suggesting a forthcoming Xbox event is “scheduled to occur within the next few weeks.” If accurate, it is anticipated that the upcoming broadcast will be streamed on platforms such as Twitch and YouTube, mirroring the approach taken during last year’s Xbox and Bethesda Developer Direct.

Insider Gaming also understands that an event is scheduled to take place within the next couple of weeks.

Regarding the speculated content of the upcoming show, past patterns suggest that Microsoft’s event might feature new trailers for upcoming games, possibly coupled with at least one unexpected game launch. A recent report from earlier this week aligns with this notion, indicating that Microsoft is contemplating a January 2024 Xbox Developer Direct that could include a surprise release, akin to the 2023 rhythm action game Hi-Fi Rush.

The aforementioned source also mentioned that the survival game Towerborne from Stoic Studio and the action-adventure Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 from Ninja Theory are expected to be showcased during the upcoming event. Given that last year’s Xbox Developer Direct ran for 45 minutes, it is reasonable to anticipate that the upcoming show will likely have a comparable duration, regardless of the specific date it ends up being held.
