Dell Unveils a Fresh Series of Laptops

0

Dell has revealed a forthcoming lineup of XPS laptops slated for a 2024 release, marking a comprehensive revamp of its XPS series with three distinct models encompassing various sizes and hardware configurations.

Unveiled at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Dell‘s new XPS laptop PC series, all operating on Microsoft Windows 11, consists of three models differentiated by screen size: the XPS 16, XPS 14, and XPS 13. The redesigned XPS 13 draws inspiration from the previously introduced Dell XPS 13 Plus at CES 2022, serving as the catalyst for the entire lineup. The emphasis across all models lies on novel design elements centered around “simplicity at the core,” aiming to eliminate distractions in favor of enhancing productivity.

In a blog post outlining the lineup, Dell provided additional insights into the enhanced features of the updated XPS laptops. Crafted from machined aluminum, all three models (XPS 13, XPS 14, and XPS 16) are available in two color options (Graphite and Platinum) and boast Gorilla Glass 3 screens. An innovative touch function row positioned above the keyboard offers convenient access to both function keys and media keys, enhancing user experience.

The new Dell XPS 16 is the most powerful of the bunch, with a larger screen area and higher performance. It’s intended to replace Dell‘s older XPS 15 and 17 models.

A noteworthy addition to the latest Dell XPS series is the incorporation of “AI acceleration.” The Intel Core Ultra processors within the lineup are equipped with a specialized processing unit designed to efficiently manage AI-enabled tasks. Additionally, the keyboards of the new laptops feature a Microsoft “Copilot key,” triggering the activation of Windows 11’s integrated Copilot AI assistant service. Microsoft’s recent announcement highlights the introduction of the Copilot key to Windows keyboards, marking the first significant addition to standard keyboards since 1994.

While evidently tailored more towards work and productivity rather than the specialized gaming market, Dell‘s latest XPS line appears surprisingly adept for gaming enthusiasts. Although these new models may not reach the performance heights of gaming-focused laptops, users can achieve commendable gaming performance by making appropriate specification choices. Remarkably, even the XPS 13, primarily designed for non-gaming purposes, seems poised to deliver satisfactory performance with popular “low-spec” PC titles and the extensive array of new games available on platforms like Xbox Game Pass.
