The inaugural weekly update for Grand Theft Auto Online in 2024 has been launched, introducing a host of fresh challenges, vehicles, and an array of exciting additions to the game. Recent weeks have been filled with notable events for enthusiasts, as Rockstar Games commenced the festive season with the much-anticipated GTA Online holiday update.
Los Santos is now blanketed in snow, bringing with it new game modes, equipment, rewards, and more. The fan-favorite Die Hard-inspired Weazel Plaza Shootout has made a comeback, accompanied by snowmen and the Yeti hunt. Additionally, the developers generously distributed numerous free cosmetics in celebration of the New Year. While some festive features will remain in the game for an extended period, several have bid farewell, making way for fresh content introduced in the latest weekly update.
In a recent Newswire announcement, Rockstar Games has detailed the contents of the January 4 weekly update. One of the key highlights is the introduction of the Wildlife Photography Challenge in GTA Online. This feature enables players to capture images of animals and submit them to the LS Tourist Board to earn rewards. For each photograph submitted, players will receive GTA$20,000 and 500 RP, with a limit of three submissions per day. It’s worth noting that animals were only recently introduced to GTA Online as part of the December update.

Moreover, the game now features the inclusion of the Declasse Park Ranger vehicle. Unlocking this vehicle entails capturing a photo of a single animal, with the added incentive of obtaining the Declasse Park Ranger at a reduced price of $2,235,000 after snapping ten photos—markedly lower than the regular $2,980,000. Participants in this challenge will also receive the exclusive Zoophilist Outfit. It is important to note that both the Wildlife Photography Challenge and the Declasse Park Ranger are exclusively available for players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
In addition to these updates, Peyote Plants have made a comeback in GTA Online, enabling players to temporarily transform into animals. Each week, fans eagerly anticipate the release of bonuses. However, this time, the offerings include 2x GTA$ & RP opportunities through HSW Races, Stunt Races, Time Trials, Junk Energy Time Trials, and the Trap Door Adversary Mode. Successful placement in the top three spots in the GTA Online LS Car Meet Series for three consecutive days rewards players with the Declasse Tulip.
Despite the exciting additions, PC players express disappointment over the exclusivity of the Wildlife Photography Challenge and Declasse Park Ranger to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S platforms. Whether Rockstar Games plans to introduce these elements to GTA Online on PC in the future remains uncertain.
